Vacature – IT – Firewall Administrator

HYDAC is looking for a driven Firewall Administrator, located in the Netherlands.

Job Description
Reporting to the leader of network infrastructure, the Firewall Administrator will be responsible for the configuration, monitoring and maintenance of firewall systems, and will assist with the development and implementation of security policies.

Main Duties

1. Configuration & maintenance of firewall systems according to conceptual specifications:

• Installation, configuration and updating of firewall hardware and software.
• Setting up and integrating the firewall systems into the company network.
• Control of the firewall systems for efficient network segmentation.
• Development of mechanisms for firewall orchestration/automation.

2. Monitoring and maintenance of the firewall infrastructure according to instructions:

• Review of firewall logs, network traffic and events in the data traffic.
• Identification of potential security breaches.
• Regular security checks and audits of the firewall systems.

3. Assisting in the development and implementation of security policies:

• Implementing firewall policies and procedures.
• Securing network resources.
• Updating security policies to meet changing threats.

4. Incident response and troubleshooting:

• Responding to security incidents.
• Analysis of security breaches.
• Troubleshooting and diagnosing network problems.

5. Collaboration between IT teams and business departments, cooperation with service providers.

Profile:

• Completed education & 2-year additional training, alternatively many years of professional experience in the field.
• Strong professional experience in the field of firewall and network technologies.
• Knowledge of Next Generation Firewall.
• Knowledge of network security desirable.

Required skills:

• Certifications or training in network security.
• Knowledge of common security standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, etc.).
• Know-How in WAN technologies (SD-WAN, Load-Balancing, BGP).
• Experience in VPN/Zero-Trust.
• Good analytical skills and ability to identify and solve problems.
• Ability to work in a team and good communication skills.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
